Animations from Cute to Cool

I enjoyed doing my past blog matsuri research for nice independent animations on the internet made by Japanese people. I should keep posting them from time to time. Here’s an adorable one I just saw, which is actually Taiwanese:

Don’t read the comments there if you go to Youtube; though you should never read Youtube comments anyway.

Speaking of animation, I also just saw some pretty neat and elaborate sketch animations for the next Castlevania game. I actually don’t see these kinds of things often, so it’s really cool.

omg
BOOSH!

Download them here.

More silly (and still somewhat Mario-related) video posts. This is one of many vids I watch when I’m in a bad mood, because it never fails to amuse me. It may be painful for some to watch, but certain gems of communication in this video have made their way into legend with me.

On that note, I always disliked Super Mario Land. It’s like the “red-headed stepchild” of Mario platformers, and Princess Daisy’s return to the series some decades later isn’t exactly as good as you’d hoped it would be in your younger years.

The Mario Violinist (and More Mario)

You should know, I’m on a real Mario kick right now. With the recent release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, not to mention E3 with all the other great returning classic platform heroes, I just want to play video games all day. But such desires of the id are played down and subdued, only to be lived out in my fantasies while I watch video game related media at work.

(Nah, I’m working, honestly… with a little peep here and there.)

So anyway, I got a real kick out of this.

Teppei Okada has the right idea. If I could even remotely play violin, this is exactly what I’d do, too.

While I’m at it, here are a few more Mario videos I’m liking the hell out of. SPOILERS: Mario dies at the end of all these videos. (Why are we all so cruel to him? But I enjoyed long-jumping him into walls in 64, if only to hear that goofy “d’oh, oooof…”)

Muscle March: Catch the Imp!

You know that game Muscle March that I made two posts about earlier? Well, I finally remembered to buy it. It’s just as challenging as I thought it would be, with a dash of “oh gawd” near the third parts of stages.

I’m mainly making this entry because there’s a hot pink kappa in the village stage, which amuses me to no end:

Referred to as simply "Imp" in-game

Imp took my protein!

He stands out so much that it’s hard not to follow his movements, but that doesn’t make him any easier to catch. Here’s a video of his stage.

I would’ve edited this into the Matsuri Kappa post, but that might not be fair as this month is a competition to win something, and I already made my (somewhat rushed) entry! So I just posted this separately. Hurrr.

With any luck NA support for this game will inspire them to eventually bring Captain Rainbow over here, since Captain Rainbow looks awesome.

Muscle March Marches Our Way

Remember that wacky Wii game full of fun and muscles that popped up earlier this year? Well, my dreams have come true: it’s coming to the US’s WiiWare next year.

Here, have some English trailer:

I actually like this more than the original trailer: it retains the wacky spirit while being more self-explanatory.

I love fun, nonsensical stuff like this, so you can bet I’m buying the hell out of it.
