With the recent release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, not to mention E3 with all the other great returning classic platform heroes, I just want to play video games all day. But such desires of the id are played down and subdued, only to be lived out in my fantasies while I watch video game related media at work.

(Nah, I’m working, honestly… with a little peep here and there.)

So anyway, I got a real kick out of this.

Teppei Okada has the right idea. If I could even remotely play violin, this is exactly what I’d do, too.

While I’m at it, here are a few more Mario videos I’m liking the hell out of. SPOILERS: Mario dies at the end of all these videos. (Why are we all so cruel to him? But I enjoyed long-jumping him into walls in 64, if only to hear that goofy “d’oh, oooof…”)

I really like this. I keep watching it. It’s so serene…and cute. Mario learns of a GREAT SECRET obvious to anyone who isn’t a native to the Mushroom Kingdom.

I’ll throw in this bonus: a fun video of Super Mario Galaxy mashed up with Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Fits oddly well!

Well, I finally remembered to buy it. It’s just as challenging as I thought it would be, with a dash of “oh gawd” near the third parts of stages.

I’m mainly making this entry because there’s a hot pink kappa in the village stage, which amuses me to no end:

Referred to as simply "Imp" in-game

Imp took my protein!

He stands out so much that it’s hard not to follow his movements, but that doesn’t make him any easier to catch. Here’s a video of his stage.

First, the original:

A+ for comfort

Apparently one of the ideas behind this innovative new sleeping bag with legs is that you’ll be able to get up and run away from bears should you be caught by one while camping. There are a few things that come to mind when you hear that:

  • If you’re caught by a bear, you probably can’t outrun it.
  • In regular sleeping bags, you can at least pretend to be a giant rock. Bears can’t see all that well in the dark, can they? Now you’re just a giant, armless mass with easy-to-chew-off legs.
  • You can’t easily stand without the use of your arms.

You’ve got to admire the thought, however. Maybe.
